Treatment with PNT.

The Procedure
The PNT System includes ten filament electrodes (3-cm for the lumbar application, 2-cm for the cervical application) that are inserted percutaneously to deliver electrical stimulation to the deep tissues near the spine in order to reach the nerve pathways that can affect pain. This procedure is performed by a physician in a series of outpatient sessions that last approximately 30 minutes each.

The placement of electrodes is standardized and consistent, as represented in the montages below.

Indications for Use
Percutaneous Neuromodulation Therapy (PNT) is indicated for the symptomatic relief and management of chronic or intractable pain and/or as an adjunctive treatment in the management of post-surgical pain and post-trauma pain.

The PNT Control Unit is to be used with PNT Lumbar Safeguides for low back pain or PNT Cervical Safeguides for neck and/or upper back pain.

Treatment Guidelines
Clinical research on PNT suggests that four treatments are required in order to adequately assess patient response to the treatment. If the patient is not experiencing pain relief after four treatments, the procedure is discontinued. If the patient is experiencing benefit, research shows that patients typically require up to ten treatments to achieve positive symptomatic and objective gains in their pain and activity levels. If the patient has severe and chronic or intractable pain, ongoing periodic (e.g., monthly, quarterly) treatments may be required.
